The Japanese are known to have one of the healthiest diets in the world. Their traditional diet consists of rice, fish and vegetables. And yet, it appears that now even the Japanese population is beginning to suffer the effects of westernization, with the proliferation of American fast-food restaurants. Diabetes is beginning to take hold of the Japanese population, and where there is diabetes, there is perforce obesity. Moreover, where there is diabetes, there are likely to be other diabetes/obesity-related diseases, including cancer, blindness and neuralgia.
This is truly odd. Were it not for fast-food restaurants, Japanese diet is still fairly healthy, and the Japanese walk a great deal more than their Western counterparts. Walking is one of the proven methods of regulating blood sugar. So how it is possible that this dread disease has crossed the border even to the Land of the Rising Sun?
